Half-Life 2 (2004)
The game was developed by Valve Corporation and it took them over 5 years and $40 million. The game is broken into several chapters, and it follows protagonist Gordon Freeman. The sequel has nearly the same mechanics as Half-Life, except newer Source Engine and improved graphics. By 2011, Half-Life 2 was sold over 12 million copies, not including Steam sales. Also, the game won 39 “Game of the Yea” awards and the title of “Game of the Decade” at the 2012 Spike Video Game Awards.
Grand Theft Auto V (2015)
The game was developed and released by Rockstar North in 2015 for PC. It is an open world action-adventured video game, which tells the stories of three protagonists in the city of Los Santos: Michael De Santa, Franklin Clinton, and Trevor Philips. The game was one of the most awaited video games ever. Grand Theft Auto, holds scores of 95 and above on Metacritic and Gameranking. Also, the game sold 11.23 million copies on its first day, making over a $1 billion within 3 days of the game`s release.
BioShock is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2kBoston, released for Microsoft windows and Xbox 360 in 2007. The game is set in 1960. The player guides the protagonist, Jack, after his plane crashed in the ocean. During the game, the players discover the underwater city of Rapture, which was intended to be an isolated utopia. The game was considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time, because of its morality-based storyline and immersive environment. By 2008, the game was sold over 2.2 million copies.
Team Fortress 2 (2007)
The game is a team-based first-person shooter multiplayer video game, which was developed by Valve Corporation. Besides strong class-based gameplay, the game has a unique graphical style, a ton of humor. Players can join one of two teams, choosing between 9 charter classes and battling in a variety of game modes, including capture the flag and king of the hill. The game has a score 92/100 on Metacritic and has received several awards individually for its multiplayer gameplay and its graphical style.
Portal 2 (2001)
One more game that is developed and published by Valve Corporation. It was hard to think that Valve could top Portal, but they did. The game retains Portal’s elements and adds features, but the world is bigger, the story thicker and character development is more surprising. The storyline introduces new characters, including Wheatley, and Cave Johnson. The game also includes a two-player cooperative mode, in which the robotic player- characters are given portal guns and they work together to solve puzzles. By 2011, over 2 million copies of Portal 2 have been sold according to Valve.
