A seventh season of “The Vampire Diaries” came to an end in May 2015, and the final episode Gods and Monsters have watched over a million people so far.
The Vampire Diaries, new season
And it was obvious that over a million people were nervously waiting for a news, weather or not we should expect new season, eight. But on 17 June 2016, The CW released its schedule for this fall. And according to the schedule, the supernatural drama series is coming back on Friday, October 21, this year.
To be honest, the decision on renewal was not surprise for us, even though they have lost over 1 million viewers over the last couple of years. The seventh season has been eulogised by the viewers, and also it’s rating on IMDB is quite good. At the moment, “The Vampire Diaries” season seven, has a score of 7.5 out of 10 based on 225.000 user votes, and the highest rated episode is “Hell is other people” with astonishing 9.0 rating.
But enough about the new season, seventh, let’s talk about the upcoming season and the last one from “The Vampire Diaries”. In his recent interview, the CW president Mark Pedowitz told the reporters that nothing has been determined at the conclusion of “The Vampire Diaries” after season eight.
But after a couple of weeks, the official statement came from the CW, that season eight will be the last. So, what can we expect from the season eight?
In her recent interview at SDCC, the executive producer Julie Plec, talked about Nina Dobrev’s possible return, and characters possibly showing up on The Originals.
What about the possibility of the return of Elena?
JP: “Do you realise that I have been in here for 35 minutes and you are the first person to ask me about that, I have had nine questions about the June wedding and not a single person has asked me about Elena so I am waiting. Look, all I can say because there is nothing written in stone, but Nina made me a promise when she left that she would come back and be a part of the goodbye, and I intend on holding her to that. And I am sure she intends on living up to it as well so we just have to figure it out – the how, the when, the what – but it would be a real tragedy if we could not bring that story back around full circle.”
Is there possibility that after it ends we might still see a Vampire Diaries characters show up on The Originals?
JP: “I would love that. I am using that to hold the network hostage and say, Listen, keep The Originals on the air and I swear at some point we will try to find a way to work everybody through those doors because why not? It’s a great world. Vampires are not done- people still like vampires and there are no other vampires on television that I want to see. I would love to keep it going.”
